Applied behavior analysis is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior. (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968; Sulzer-Azaroff & Mayer, 1991).

BCA is committed to providing treatment that focuses on methods and techniques including, but not limited to:

​

• Increasing  behaviors: Reinforcement procedures that increase on-task behavior, social interactions, play skills and other socially significant behaviors.

• Teaching new skills: Systematic instruction and reinforcement procedures that teach functional life skills, communication skills, or social skills.

• Maintaining behaviors: Teaching self-management and self-monitoring procedures to maintain acquired skills.

• Generalization or transference of behavior from one situation or response to another: For example, from completing assignments in the resource room to performing as well in the mainstream classroom.

• Minimizing conditions under which interfering behaviors occur: Modifying the learning or living environment.

• Reducing and/or replacing interfering behaviors: For example, self-injury or stereotypy (repetetive habitual behaviors).

 

ABA is an objective discipline. ABA focuses on the reliable measurement and objective evaluation of observable behavior.

Behavior Change Agents (BCA) is committed to helping to unlock the potential within individuals  with autism and related disorders. We provide instructional and behavioral programs to meet the needs of learners and families. While utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis techniques, all of our programming is individualized and grounded in evidenced-based, data driven and research supported practices.
